Admissions Guidelines

Entrance Age, Nursery through Grade Five

Students should have reasonable maturity before enrolling in the school. For this reason, it has been established that children must be of the age specified below before September 1, of the enrolling year:

Nursery - Three (3) years of age

Kindergarten - Four (4) years of age

Pre-First - Five (5) years of age

First Grade - Six (6) years of age

Second Grade - Seven (7) years of age

Third Grade - Eight (8) years of age

Fourth Grade - Nine (9) years of age

Fifth Grade - Ten (10) years of age

Successive Grades placement will be based on birthdate and credit status from the school of transfer.

Proof of Age Documentation

Prior to first time enrollment at the school, the parent or guardian must provide a certified copy of the child's birth certificate. In the event that a copy of the birth certificate cannot be obtained, another proof of the student's identity and date of birth may be accepted if it is accompanied by an affidavit explaining the inability to produce a copy of the birth certificate. Other reliable proofs of the child's identity and birth date may include a passport, visa or other governmental documentation of the child's identity.

Prerequisites for Admission

The Board has determined that the following documentation must be received before an applicant can be considered for enrollment in the school:

Application Form: A completed, signed application, accompanied by the application fee must be received within the time limit set by the Registrar.

Transcripts and/or report cards: Applicants must present official transcripts and/or report cards with standardized test results from all years of previous schooling prior to the date of application which indicates sufficient academic preparation, a satisfactory level of achievement, attendance and behavior and the ability to succeed in the rigorous curriculum of the school.

Students who have not attended schools where the language of instruction is English must present translations of their educational records.

Proof of Medical/Accident Insurance: It is the responsibility of the parents to provide documented proof of possession of accident/medical insurance for each of their children enrolled at CAS.

Entrance Testing/Observation: 
Only applicants whose educational records indicate a satisfactory record of achievement, attendance and behavior will sit for entrance examinations.

English Language Proficiency: Applicants who do not demonstrate an adequate level of English proficiency will not be considered for admission to Grade Nine or above.

Grade Level Placement: 
Grade level placement of eligible candidates is at the discretion of the Director in consultation with the school’s admissions team.
