Welcome to Lower School

On behalf of the faculty and staff, welcome to the Lower School page at CAS.

It is our honor and privilege to be serving such a fantastic community of learners. At CAS, we believe it is our school’s collective responsibility to provide all of our students with the highest quality learning experiences.  We believe these experiences are driven by a student-centered approach to learning in an engaging, inclusive and internationally minded environment.  CAS is committed to developing inquiring, knowledgeable and compassionate students who become Active Learners and Responsible Citizens who, through intercultural awareness, understanding and respect, will help create a peaceful and sustainable world.

At CAS, we apply positive discipline throughout the lower school, which supports and validates our commitment to character development. We communicate and demonstrate the positive behaviors we expect from our students and we like to see every day as a new opportunity for all to develop self-awareness, autonomy and confidence.

A child’s journey at CAS may start as early as age three in our purpose built preschool unit that offers an inquiry approach to learning that we nurture throughout the early childhood elementary years. Students are engaged in their learning through exciting and innovative International Primary Curriculum lessons, as well as the Bridges Math Program and Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop lessons.  These initiatives support the development of a strong literacy and numeracy foundation which is additionally supported by the department of Language, Literacy and Learning. Students work with specialists for art, music, physical education and we encourage them to express their learning creatively through a variety of media. Further, students diversify their linguistic competence through specialized instruction in Arabic and French and so gain a valuable understanding of local and global cultures.

As developing the whole student is our focus, CAS offers Cobra Plus, an after school program that offers a variety of diverse activities for students to participate in, learn a new skill and develop relationships with their schoolmates.

The faculty and support staff are a dynamic and passionate group of international professionals who work together every day to deliver learning experiences that embody our school’s vision and mission. If you are considering joining our community, I look forward to sharing with you what makes the Lower School at CAS a great place for children to learn and grow.
