Boards of Directors

The Casablanca American School is governed by a Board of Directors. Seven members are elected by the Casablanca American School Association, which is comprised of parents and faculty members. One non-voting, ex-officio seat on the Board is reserved for the United States Consul General or his/her appointee. The Director is also a non-voting, ex-officio member of the Board. The Presidents of the ADAEM (Association for the Development of American Education in Morocco) and the P.T.A. and a teacher may be invited to serve as ex-officio nonvoting participants.

The CAS Board of Directors meets monthly for meetings open to parents and teachers; specific dates and times are indicated in the school’s yearly calendar, the What’s Up, and on the school’s website. Board meetings take place in the Multipurpose Room and are open to all members of the CAS Association. The agenda for each meeting is posted the Friday prior to the meeting on the bulletin board outside the Reception.

There are times when the Board must call an Executive session which is attended by Board members only. The dates and times of these meetings are not posted and the minutes are not shared as the information is confidential.

Sub-committees of the Board on which parents, administrators, faculty and staff members serve include:

  • Communications
  • Finance
  • Policy/Legislative
  • Nominating Committee
  • Facilities/Construction (Ad hoc)

Dates of sub-committee meetings are noted in the monthly events calendar and in the What’s Up. Faculty members interested in serving on a Board sub-committee should contact the Director in writing.

Faculty members are strongly encouraged to attend open Board meetings, where decisions of great importance to the school’s educational program are made.
