CAS Lower School

The Lower School at Casablanca American School includes Early Childhood (K3-K5) and Grades 1-6. 

The CAS Lower School (Grades 1–6) provides a strong academic foundation within a supportive, inquiry-driven environment. Grounded in a rigorous American curriculum aligned with AERO standards, our program nurtures the whole child while fostering curiosity, independence, and the development of transferable skills.

During this time, students develop essential literacy and numeracy skills while forming attitudes about themselves as learners and their place in the world. At CAS, we intentionally support social-emotion learning to cultivate confidence, resilience, and a joy for learning through meaningful and engaging experiences.

Learning in the Lower School is organized through inquiry and thematic units that connect subject areas and promote deeper understanding. Inspired by the philosophy of the Primary Years Programme (PYP), students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and make connections across disciplines.

Core subjects, including English, mathematics, science, and social studies, are complemented by specialist programs such as art, music, physical education, and world languages, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.

High-Quality Instruction and Support

Instruction is designed to meet the needs of all learners through a workshop model that balances focused instruction, guided practice, and independent learning. 

Literacy instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading, integrating foundational skills with meaningful opportunities for reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Mathematics is taught using Bridges in Mathematics, with an emphasis on conceptual understanding, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning.
