“When we make the play the foundation of learning, we teach the whole child.” -Vince Gowmon

In our Preschool we believe in research-based best practice and strive to provide the right conditions for the development of the whole child. Research shows greater long term academic and social & emotional gains from play-based programs than from preschools and kindergartens with a more academic focus. The International Early Years Curriculum uses international best practices, holistic inquiry and play-based approaches that cover all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development.
Preschool and the Lower School teachers are using the Positive Discipline approach to teach children how to be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn using kind, firm, consistent methods.

Our trained, experienced and caring Preschool Team ensures that all children are safe, happy, engaged, and thriving. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for our students. At CAS, we have well-sized preschool classrooms and learning spaces with three outdoor amphitheaters to take our circle time, read alouds, and exploration outside. In our outdoor playground we have a rock climbing wall, covered sandpit, chalk walls, and a jungle gym with a slide.
