The 2021 C.A.S Blood Drive in the Time of a Pandemic IB CAS project was selected amongst 40 projects to be showcased at the IB Virtual Conference held from October 18th-22nd 2021. Special thanks to Ms. Fatiha Sajid for mentoring our students when applying for the IB selection panel. Congratulations to our current seniors Dany, Neyl and Samy for leading such a well organized project and even more so during the pandemic.
The IB has invited its schools to display their work, creativity, and talent by showcasing students' or schools' projects and performances at the IB Virtual Conference that will be held from October 18th-22nd, 2021. The IB received more than 40 applications and only 18 schools were selected. We are proud to announce that our students' Blood Drive Project from last year was selected! Special thanks to Ms. Fatiha Sajid for mentoring our students when applying for the IB selection panel. Congratulations to our current seniors Dany, Neil and Samy for leading such a well organized project and even more so during the pandemic. That goes a long way in showing our student's level ! For those less familiar with the project, the 2021 C.A.S Blood Drive aimed to help increase blood reserves at the National Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS), which in non-COVID-19 times, is very limited. Moreover, due to the three-month lockdown in Morocco and the continued state of emergency imposed by the government, the blood banks reached an unprecedented low supply level. Therefore, the leading team worked closely with CRTS to define the needs and regulations to transform the school gym into a donor center while respecting covid sanitary mitigation measures; filed for special authorizations with the Moroccan authorities to overcome all the restrictions imposed by the government during such sanitary crisis; created a digital sign up form to ensure we would meet the minimum quota required by CRTS; raised awareness through a digital campaign on the school's social media platforms aimed to encourage community members to sign up for donation, emphasizing the urgency of the situation all while warranting a covid friendly environment. COVID-19 has ravaged many people's lives in various ways, and knowing how vital it was for the medical teams to increase blood supplies, we had to take action. Despite the current pandemic, restrictions, and general fear from the population to gather, we were proud to have been able to lead a successful campaign that raised awareness, inspiring more fellow community members to serve their civic duty and providing CRTS with the blood supply that would save more than 180 individuals throughout the nation.
