CAS Grade 6 Choir Shines at MAIS Middle School Honor Choir Festival in Rome
Late last month, a group of talented Grade 6 choir students from Casablanca American School (CAS) went on an unforgettable journey to Rome, Italy, to participate in the prestigious MAIS Middle School Honor Choir Festival. Hosted at the esteemed Marymount International School, the festival brought together singers in Grades 6-8 from various member schools of the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS).
The students immersed themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of Rome, exploring the historic landmarks and vibrant streets of "The Eternal City" during excursions. However, the highlight of their trip was undoubtedly the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside their peers from other international schools.
Under the guidance of dedicated music teachers and the choir conductor, the students spent their days perfecting their singing and musicianship skills. Daily choir practices allowed them to learn and understand the significance of each song while preparing for the two concerts held during the festival.
The MAIS Honor Choir is a testament to the commitment of its participants, who not only showcase excellence in singing but also demonstrate high levels of personal character and discipline. Each year, approximately 10 choir groups from American international schools across the Mediterranean region come together to form a unified choir, transcending cultural and linguistic barriers through the universal language of music.
Moreover, the MAIS Honor Choir is not just about music; it is also about giving back to the community. All proceeds from the concerts are donated to a charity chosen by the host school, reflecting the choir's commitment to making a positive impact beyond the stage.
CAS is immensely proud of its Grade 6 choir students for their exemplary representation, showcasing the school's dedication to fostering artistic talent and global citizenship.
