The Casablanca American School (CAS) established in 1973 is a N-12 university preparatory school which embraces an American system of education and teaching that offers an International Baccalaureate Full Diploma Program in Grades Eleven and Twelve.  CAS is the first International Baccalaureate school in North Africa and has been offering the Full IB Diploma Program since 1987. CAS currently enrolls approximately 700 students with a 8:1 student-faculty ratio, represented by over 32 nationalities.

THE LOCATION

The school is located in Casablanca, the modern, economic and business center of Morocco and the chief port and one of the largest financial centers in Africa. The school campus is located in Californie, one of the upscale and safest neighborhoods in the city. Our current campus was originally built in 1988 followed by an extension of the Kim West Abba Lower School Building in 2002. CAS, is a 10 acre campus, including 70 classrooms, wireless, gymnasium, two libraries, a 378 seat performing arts theater, outdoor soccer field, outdoor Basketball field, additional playing fields and play areas, fitness center and one cafeteria. The facilities provide two art studios, two music rooms and five purpose-built science and computer labs. The CAS campus is known for its inviting and welcoming learning environment.

 

THE FACULTY

CAS’ 90+ certified faculty have experience teaching all over the world. Nearly 45% of faculty hold masters level degrees or higher and 76% of our faculty is international. CAS faculty hold a deep commitment to the school’s mission statement and core values.

 

THE HISTORY

Casablanca American School was established in 1973 and benefits from a rich and diverse history and strong reputation in the region. The success that CAS enjoys today is a result of the tireless work and service of those before us. CAS serves approximately 700 students, Nursery through Grade 12, with nearly 150 faculty and dedicated staff and more than 678 alumni and former students having impact all over the world.

 

THE PROGRAM

CAS is committed to academic excellence and the emotional, physical and social well being of all students and to providing an international perspective and a comprehensive education. Maintaining small class sizes, high consistent standards and a commitment to curriculum aligned with US college preparatory schools and the IB diploma program, CAS challenges itself to deliver strong curriculum by investing in professional development for teachers and to lead learning innovations based on best practices.

 

THE SCHOOL YEAR

The CAS school year typically runs from August to June in three trimesters, with a Fall break in October, a half-year holiday that starts in December, a Winter break in February and a Spring break, which is usually in April.
